This lovely little village is bordered on the west by the Piduruthalagala Forest Reserve and the east by the Balagolla mountain ranges. The village receives rain for the majority of the year due to its geographical location. It is a one-of-a-kind location that has never seen the very first or very last rays of the sun due to its mountainous location.
The scenery is simply breathtaking, with grasslands dotted with wildflowers, waterfalls, and vast fields. It's also a short distance to capture the enchanting beauty of wildlife.

The basin-like location appears to be wrapped in clouds and can be reached via Kandy on the road leading to Walapane, passing Rikillagaskada and turning right just before the town of Padiyapelalla, or from Nuwara Eliya. The road through the hilly terrain twists and coils its way to this enchanting destination, delighting your eyes along the way.
On the way to Mandaram Nuwara, there is a small waterfall that is the second drop of the much larger Athinni Vatuna Ella, which is located within the village. The Kolapathana Ella is approximately 2 kilometers from the village.
