Kunudiya Parwathaya
Kunudiya Parwathaya is a mountain with an unusual shape located in Peak Wilderness, close to the Kuruwita-Erathna Sri Pada route. It stands at a height of 1,580 m (5,184 ft).
It is boadering to Thalagahalanda, Watarawanguwa, Adawikanda, Diyagula, Balawana, Palabathgala, and Gatunila. Kuruwita divisional secretary owns a portion of Kunudiya Parwathaya, while Rathnapura divisional secretary owns the majority. Kuru Ganga lies in its northwest, north, and northeast directions.
It is, in fact, a rock with sharpened faces on three sides, as its name suggests. As a result, its majestic appearance indicates a difficult approach that can be overcome.
History
The origins of Kunu Diya Parwathaya can be traced back to Lord Buddha's visit to Sri Lanka. Lord Buddha is said to have planned to leave a sacred footprint on the top of Kunu Diya Parwathaya, but he changed his mind after discovering a dead body of a Rat Snake there. It could be the origin of the name Kunudiya Parwathaya.
During the reign of Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, a giant built a fire on top of Kunudiya Parwathaya so that Sri Pada Maluwa could see it. This could be true because we had a fantastic view of Sri Pada from Kunu Diya Parwathaya.
