The phrase "Single Tree" has been used since the dawn of time. The top of this mountain provides an excellent view of the sunrise. It is located 2,100 m (6,890 ft) above mean sea level and takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the summit. Single Tree Hill is the best vantage point for viewing the beauty of Nuwara Eliya and the Hakgala Mountain range. It has breathtaking views of Piduruthalagala Mountain and Hakgala Mountain and the stunning view of Nuwara Eliya.

After trekking through tea plantations, one arrives at the top, where there is only one tree. This is Sri Lanka's 10th highest mountain and is easily accessible. If you get to the top between 5.30 a.m. and 7.00 a.m., you can see the best cloud formations in Sri Lanka as well as the mountain's reflection in Gregory Lake. On a clear day, one can see Piduruthalagala Mountain (Pedro Mountain), Lovers Leap Falls, Lake Gregory, and Nuwara Eliya urban areas in the northern and southern valleys of Sri Pada (Adam's Peak), Seven Virgin Hills, Conical Hill, and Uda Radella mountains.

This Buddhist temple is as peaceful as it can be, and it can take your mind off the trail for a while. It's a great place to take a break and walk around. There were stone stairs from the trail up to the temple buildings that led to the main hall and other buildings. Return to the main trek and continue walking after visiting the temple. The summit with a radio tower is visible almost the entire way as you travel this way.

When you reach the summit, look for a concrete pathway that leads to the radio towers and then turns to the left. The path continues through the dense short forest. This forest type is only found in the mountains and is made up of trees that are not found in lower-lying areas. The trees have adapted to the cool climate, heavy rains, and bright sunlight.

Going early in the morning is ideal for bird watchers, as this small forest patch is home to the endemic whistling thrush, Yellow-eared Bulbul, and many other species. Mammals such as sambar deer and barking deer can also be seen. Following this trail will lead you to a tree plantation, through which you can descend the hill for panoramic views of the town and lake.

If you're feeling a little more daring, go a little lower for more angels. The single Tree Hill walk is well worth doing, but if you plan on walking during the rainy season, check for weather alerts ahead of time as it limits the view.
